After two years of construction, the Mattatuck Museum is proud to once again be open to the public. The Museum has reopened with new exhibitions and an exciting roster of programs and workshops for adults, kids, and families.
In honor of the 20th anniversary of 9/11 the Mattatuck Museum presents In the Wake of 9/11: Robert Carley’s American Journey on view from July 8-September 12, 2021.

Maryna Bilak: Caring Hands

Maryna Bilak’s art addresses the process of caring for someone with Alzheimer’s Disease – in this case, the artist’s mother-in-law, Dorothy. Bilak explores the different roles that the act of caregiving requires from each person involved. Caring Hands is a series of 18 plaster casts the artist created from hands of those who work with Dorothy. This exhibition will take place on the second floor at Rose Hill.

Create a hand-held puppet with a Mattatuck Museum’s teaching artist and enjoy the stories of The Dragon King, Cinderella, and Hansel & Gretel, a spectacular marionette show by Tanglewood Marionettes (presented by Arts for Learning). All children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited. Pre-registration required.
