From the earliest days of the pandemic officials at Wellmore and Waterbury Public Schools have been concerned about students who were not engaging in either face to face or on-line learning opportunities.

State Senator Joan Hartley (D-15), a former educator, was enthusiastic to see the release of $492.43 million in federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds throughout Connecticut, including over $46 million in funds to Waterbury, Naugatuck, and Middlebury schools.
The Waterbury Reads StoryWalk® project will make its debut Saturday, May 23rd in Hamilton Park. StoryWalks® are a free and fun way to share books while enjoying the outdoors.
Waterbury Reads provides free books to local children in an effort to spark a lifelong love of reading. While the program is on break from distributing books during the COVID-19 crisis, these StoryWalks will provide a family-friendly way to encourage reading.
