Local McDonald’s restaurant manager, Teresa Tamizkar, has been selected as a recipient of the 2020 Global Ray Kroc Award, an honor reserved only for managers who are performing in the top 1 percent within the McDonald’s system.
Tamizkar puts people first in this inner-city community. Prioritizing the community as a whole has shown the McDonalds brand image exactly as it was intended.
o Her team has held countless programs for the town that include Easter Egg Hunts, a Mother’s Day breakfast, coat drives for kids in need, Back to School backpack drives and food drives.
o She and her team worked together to feed the homeless on Thanksgiving Day, and have hosted several Coffee with a Cop days.
o In addition, Teresa has worked with the Beyond Disabilities program, using her restaurant to train future workers. She spoken at the Kennedy Center to teach the disabled how to conduct themselves when transitioning to work. These team efforts were so impressive to the Veterans Association of Waterbury that the organization donated money to help pay for Veterans meals when they visit the restaurant.
- People development is an all-around highlight at Tamizkar’s restaurant. She uses the Employee of the Month Program to grow morale.
- The restaurant’s delivery program has become No. 1 amongst Waterbury McDonald’s locations.
“This is well deserved,” said Chris Trefz, independent franchisee who owns and operates the restaurant Teresa manages. “It’s an outstanding and prestigious award and no one deserves it more. I am very proud of her accomplishments.”
