After two years of construction, the Mattatuck Museum is proud to once again be open to the public. The Museum has reopened with new exhibitions and an exciting roster of programs and workshops for adults, kids, and families.

The Mattatuck is open Monday-Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00a.m.-4:00 p.m. with additional hours on Thursday nights until 7:00 p.m. Walk-in visitors are welcome! Visitors who prefer contactless payment may call and reserve their ticket ahead of time.

Waterbury Wednesdays
Wednesday, July 14 and 28 | Wednesday, August 11 and 25
Price: Free for Waterbury residents
The Mattatuck Museum offers free admission to Waterbury residents on special Wednesdays
throughout the summer. Waterbury Wednesdays will feature free admission for the whole family
and includes access to the Museum’s galleries and special exhibition, A Face Like Mine,
celebrating 100 years of African American Figurative Art.
Free admission will be offered to Waterbury residents on Wednesday, July 14 and 28, and
August 11 and 25. In addition to Waterbury Wednesdays, all Waterbury Public School students 
are free every day through December 31, 2021, thanks to the generosity of Hubbard-Hall and the Kellogg Family.
Waterbury Wednesdays will include drop-in craft activities in the Museum’s new Studio that will
focus on history and art themes included in special exhibitions, such as A Face Like Mine, as
well as objects and stories found in the Museum’s newly reinterpreted History Exhibit. These
activities are meant for adults, kids, and families alike and help serve as a way to introduce
families visiting the Museum for first time to the exhibitions and collection. 

Mindfulness With Ranji
Every Monday, 11:00 AM–12:00 PM (no class on Monday, July 5)

Learn to create more peaceful and calming thoughts with the help of Mindfulness teacher Ranji
Latchmansingh at the Mattatuck Museum. During these one-hour sessions, Ranji will teach the
foundations of Mindfulness which will help you manage life’s stresses.     
Ranji Latchmansingh has been a certified Hatha Yoga instructor since 2010 and has been
practicing and teaching Hatha Yoga and meditation for the past 22 years. His classes have
included adults of all ages and teenagers and children. In addition to teaching Yoga and
meditation to the public, Latchmansingh has been teaching corporate based mindfulness
training for over 20 years in various corporations. He continues to teach corporate based
mindfulness and attends silent meditation retreats, pursues certifications in mindfulness and
maintains a regular practice. 

Tai Chi
Every Wednesday, 10:00–11:00 AM

Improve your energy and stamina as you move to the music at the Mattatuck Museum with
certified Tai Chi instructor Joe Atkins. Joe will teach gentle movements that improves balance,
flexibility and mobility, and reduce stiffness and soreness. Wear comfortable clothes. All levels
welcome! 

Intermediate Vinyasa 
Every Thursday, 5:30–6:30 PM
Price: $8 Museum Members | $12 General
Join Michele Morcey at the Mattatuck Museum as she teaches strength-building poses,
balances, and flows that link breath with movement. Students will also explore pranayama
(breath work), meditation and final relaxation. While this practice is more vigorous than a gentle
yoga class, it is accessible to most levels, as it is led with the idea that all practices serve us
differently. Bring your own mat. 
Michele Morcey is a 2014 graduate of the Om Center for Yoga and Massage’s teacher training
program. She has been practicing yoga with varying degrees of dedication for more than 25
years. In 2016, she received certification in Mindful Resilience Training through the Veterans
Yoga Project, and in 2018 completed a program in Yin Yoga and Myofascial Release with Dirk
Bennewitz at the Breathing Room in New Haven. In January 2020, Morcey completed her 300-
hour Yoga Teacher Training at the Om Center.

Unplug from today’s concerns and distractions with Mindfulness teacher, Ranji, as he leads you
through a guided mindfulness session utilizing art. Interact with art @ The MATT in a different
way as you learn to slow down and focus. Sessions are an hour long and streamed virtually
through Zoom.
