State Representative Stephanie Cummings (R-74) will be the 2018 recipient of the Attorney Robert E. Mellon Service Award, presented during the annual Children’s Community School (CCS) awards dinner.
According to the award announcement, the Attorney Mellon Service Award recognizes those “who are dedicated to helping children reach their potential and who share a belief in the empowerment of education.”
“I am honored and humbled to receive the Attorney Mellon Service Award from the Children’s Community School,” Rep. Cummings said. “Attorney Mellon dedicated his life to serving the Waterbury community, and as a firm believer in the power of education, reading and the arts I am proud to follow in his footsteps and contribute to making our city a better place to live and raise a family.”
Other honorees include Mayor Neil O’Leary, who will be presented with the Father Dwyer Humanitarian Award, CCS Chef Maude Pendarvis, who will receive the CCS Alumni and Family Award and Tony D’Elia, of La Bella Vista who will accept the Partner Award.
The event, Building better Futures!, will be held Tuesday night, March 27th at La Bella Vista. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m., and will be followed by dinner and the awards presentation at 6:00 p.m.
Entertainment will be provided by BRAVO Waterbury! The event will also feature a silent auction.
