Looking for foods and recipes to help you feel more energetic in the new year? Lauren Hassan, the new Registered Dietitian at the ShopRite of Waterbury, is here to help. Best of all, her services are free of charge to ShopRite customers.

   “We’re pleased to welcome Lauren to our team of wellness experts who make it their mission to help our customers and associates eat better, and in turn, live healthier lives,” said Paul Tornaquindici, owner of the ShopRite of Waterbury. “As we kick off our ‘Fuel Better’ campaign, we’re excited that Lauren will be providing our shoppers with tons of ideas, product suggestions and recipes to help boost their energy and feel great.”

   As the new Registered Dietitian for the ShopRite of Waterbury, Hassan provides complimentary health and wellness services for customers, such as free one-on-one nutrition counseling. Hassan also offers recipes with healthy alternatives, provides information on pantry makeovers, and navigates the aisles with shoppers to help them better understand food labels. In addition, Hassan partners with local hospitals, schools and non-profits to conduct free health and wellness-focused workshops and seminars.

   Hassan, who hails from Cheshire, CT, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Culinary Nutrition, and an Associate of Science degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI.

   In her spare time, Hassan, who currently lives in Waterbury, CT, enjoys cooking, photography, rollerblading and gardening.

    As part of ShopRite’s in-store dietitian team, Hassan is one of over 100 Registered Dietitians servicing ShopRite customers in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland.
