The public is welcome to attend a Kirtan program on March 21, 2014  at the Mattatuck Unitarian Universalist Society, 122 South Pomperaug Avenue in Woodbury.

It will be an evening of spiritual song and chanting and might include some movement as well.  It will be led by Robert Werme, musical director at MUUS as well as the director of the Sage Center for Wholeness in Woodbury.

Participants can bring a mat or pillow, but chairs will also be available.  The program runs from 7 to 8:30 pm  and water will be provided.

There will be a free will offering taken.

According to Wikipedia, Kirtan is call-and-response chanting performed in India’s bhakti devotional traditions. Kirtan is sometimes accompanied by story-telling and acting. Texts typically cover religious, mythological or social subjects
