The Law Offices of Carter Mario Injury Lawyers is pleased to announce the 2014 CarterCares Scholarship Program. The scholarship is a combination effort to assist students going on to college financially, but also to help teens to create stronger schools and communities free of bullying.

It’s estimated that every day, 160,000 teens skip school because of bullying, and approximately 50% of students report being victims of bullying at some point in their lives. Bullying can take many different forms – physical, verbal, exclusion, and cyberbullying.

For this year’s scholarship, each applicant will be asked to prepare a presentation encouraging your peers to take a stand against bullying in your school and community. Connecticut’s Injury Lawyer, Carter Mario and his staff will judge the presentations, which could be but not limited to — Videos; Essays; Brochures; or Booklets, sent to the firm on how you propose your school community can put an end to bullying. The statewide firm will award $2,000 a piece to (10) ten high school seniors in the state of Connecticut attending a four-year college or university in the fall.

Carter Mario Injury Lawyers and the law firm’s community relations arm, CarterCares, is dedicated to helping individuals, especially youth, in the state who have been affected by injury due to negligence. The firm is also concerned with the prevention of accidents and the safety of others before personal injury even occurs.

The scholarship, focused on raising awareness of the seriousness of teen bullying in our communities, schools, and online, is the only one of its kind offered in Connecticut.

“Our firm has always had an interest in the well-being and safety of our greatest asset — our youth,“ says firm President & CEO, Carter Mario. “And bullying, whether it be online via cyberbullying or face-to-face physical bullying in our neighborhoods and schools, is an issue affecting our youth that should not be ignored. Our firm is committed to shedding light on this subject; it is an issue we are very passionate about. Our ultimate goal is to help put an end to Bullying for children and teens here in Connecticut,” added Mario.

Since the program’s inception in 2006, Carter Mario Injury Lawyers has awarded over $64,000.00 in scholarship money to 63 graduating high school seniors in Connecticut. Coming in the spring of 2014, the firm will launch a statewide public service message campaign aimed at exposing the seriousness of Bullying among teens across Connecticut. The campaign will be supported through a robust bus ad campaign, billboards, and online, via a new website. The campaign, which is being created by the law firm and New Haven, CT-based strategic marketing firm, Mascola//Group, is currently in development.

Connecticut high school seniors interested in the scholarship can obtain the application by visiting and downloading a copy, or by visiting their school’s guidance department or guidance counselor. All entries must be postmarked no later than Monday, March 25th, 2014 to qualify for the scholarship.
