State Representatives Anthony D’Amelio (R-71), Selim Noujaim (R-74), Sean Williams (R-68), Larry Butler (D-72), Victor Cuevas (D-75) and Jeff Berger (D-73) and State Senators Rob Kane (R-32), Joe Markley (R-16) and Joan Hartley (D-15) today joined New Opportunities Inc. in supporting their 26th Annual Holiday Toy Drive Campaign by directly sponsoring several collection locations in Greater Waterbury.

New Opportunities Inc., a community action agency serving Waterbury, Meriden, Torrington and 27 surrounding Connecticut towns offering a variety of social service programs designed to eliminate poverty and assist people in need, annually provides toys to boys and girls during the holidays.

“In tough economic times groups like New Opportunities are more important than ever and I’m proud to support their mission and to help with the annual toy drive,” Rep. Tony D’Amelio said. “I encourage everyone to donate what they can, whether it’s time volunteering, money or toys to help make others’ holiday season a little better.”

“I am happy to be joining New Opportunities in this effort to make certain the children in our community have a happy holiday,” Rep. Selim Noujaim said. “With a tough economy, especially around the holidays, every little bit of charity makes a big impact.”

“The folks at New Opportunities do good work, and I’m thrilled to partner with them on this toy drive that’s certain to warm the hearts of a lot of children at a time of year that can be stressful for parents who simply don’t have the money to give their kids the type of holiday experience enjoyed by so many others,” Rep. Sean Williams said.

“This is a great team effort to help children in our region and I am proud to be a part of it,” Senator Rob Kane said.

“It’s a pleasure to help my friends at New Opportunities in the good work they do during the holidays and all year round,” Sen. Joe Markley said.

“New Opportunities mission of helping those in need in our community has never been more important,” Senator Joan Hartley said. “I am ever grateful to New Opportunities and their Annual Holiday Toy Drive Campaign and eagerly support them in bringing holiday cheer to so many of our children in need.”

“The holidays are special for children and a toy given this time of year takes on extra meaning,” Rep. Larry B. Butler said.  “I support New Opportunities and their Holiday Toy Drive and encourage any assistance”.

“One of the most important and impactful childhood memories is Christmas. Unfortunately, many families find themselves not being able to give even a modest gift,” Rep. Victor Cuevas said. “I thank New Opportunities, Inc. for their many successful toy drives that have brought smiles and happy memories to many children throughout the years.”

“New Opportunities has always been there for the community providing important and vital resources for those in need,” Rep. Jeff Berger said. “I am happy to once again partner with them in making this Holiday Season a special and caring occasion.”
