StayWell Health Center is pleased to announce the two recipients of Healthcare Champion Awards, Mike Dwyer and Joe Gorman. A Healthcare Champion is someone who has made a significant positive impact on the health of others, either through direct service, supporting access to care, providing health education, or patient advocacy.
Michael Dwyer, StayWell LPN, has been named a Healthcare Champion due to his contributions to the agency achieving recognition as a Patient Centered Medical Home, ability to uplift colleagues and patients, and willingness to go the extra mile to get things done.
Joseph Gorman, Supervisor of Health and Physical Education for the Waterbury Public Schools, has been named a Healthcare Champion because of his support of student health initiatives, including the Smile Builders mobile dental program, on-site sports physicals program, and his leadership in providing programming in the schools to address health issues such as obesity.
StayWell Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center founded in 1972, is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. StayWell provides medical, dental, mental health and social services at six Waterbury locations. In 2012 StayWell served over 20,000 people from the greater Waterbury area. StayWell has a sliding fee schedule available for the full scope of services provided within all agency departments. Patients are provided with services regardless of their ability to pay.
