Fred Astaire Southbury is o?ering a newly designed after- school program for competitive ballroom dancing, beginning September 24, 2013. The program is designed to introduce kids and juniors to the art of ballroom dancing. Attending students will learn all ballroom dances including Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot and many more. As part of the new program, students will be introduced to the art of ballroom manners as well as have an opportunity to experience an improved level of con?dence and the healthy bene?ts of dance. “When you dance, your cardiovascular system improves, your muscle tone increases and you burn calories.This low impact aerobic activity also increases ?exibility, strength and balance. Olympic athletes often dance as part of their training to sharpen their control, agility and speed,” explains Fred Astaire Southbury manager Christian Lange.
Fred Astaire Southbury will be o?ering two classes per week. Tuesday and Wednesday
from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. Drop o? will be from 3:00-3:15 and pick up 4:15 to 4:30.
Students will be charged a monthly membership fee of $120.00. There is no partner
required. Once the ?rst routines are established and the students feel con?dent enough
to perform, there will be numerous opportunities for them to display their talents at
competitions and showcases.
