Marcel Veronneau, founder of Energy Systems Sales & Training (ESST) and IMTI, The Industrial Management Training Institute, both in Waterbury, Conn., has partnered with Motech Industries, Inc. and Motech Inverters of Taiwan, to install 174 solar panels on the roof of the IMTI school building in Waterbury. The rooftop solar photovoltaic system will produce enough energy to power nine residential homes.

The Energy Systems Sales & Training (ESST) division of IMTI, The Industrial Management & Training Institute, in partnership with Motech Industries, Inc. and Motech Inverters of Taiwan, will install a 45kw Solar Photovoltaic System on the roof of the IMTI building at 233 Mill Street in Waterbury, Connecticut (www.IMTI.edu). Marcel Veronneau, founder of IMTI and ESST, stated, “This system will be grid tied to Northeast Utilities and will produce energy equivalent to powering nine residential homes.  The system’s 174 rooftop panels will produce 250 watts each, and the panels and inverters for the system will all be supplied by Motech Industries, Inc.”

In November 2012 Veronneau and IMTI announced a partnership with Motech Industries, Inc. to initially import and distribute, and eventually manufacture, high quality solar products in Waterbury. “This partnership is all about creation of jobs in Connecticut in the solar power industry,” stated Veronneau. “Motech is the sixth largest manufacturer of solar products and services in the world. We are partnering with this international solar giant to bring solar PV jobs to Waterbury and to distribute solar products to ‘green’ builders and consumers throughout this region.”

Veronneau created the collaboration with Motech Industries, Inc. after announcing in July 2011 that IMTI had gained approval for their newly-created Solar PV Apprentice Training Program by the State of Connecticut Department of Labor, The State of Connecticut Department of Higher Education and the State of Connecticut Workforce Investment Boards. IMTI is the first institution in Connecticut to offer a formal apprenticeship program that qualifies course graduates the immediate ability to secure jobs in the solar PV industry.

For the rooftop solar PV installation at 233 Mill Street in Waterbury, Energy Systems Sales & Training will collaborate with VEECO Solar, R&S Construction, and Safe at Work for assistance with fall protection and OSHA compliance for the installation. ESST will employ several graduates from the IMTI Solar PV program for the installation. Energy Systems Sales & Training will sell back the power generated by the solar panels to Northeast Utilities which Veronneau stated, “Should decrease IMTI’s electric bill for the year by $10,000.”

Veronneau added that, “The project is the result of ESST’s collaborative ambitions with VEECO Solar, the Clean Energy Finance & Investment Authority (CEFIA), Northeast Utilities (NU), TD Bank, IMTI, a.Solar of New York, and Waterbury’s Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board (NRWIB).”
