The 3rd Annual T-Shirt Drawing Contest was held for the NAMI Walk and again Naugatuck High School came away a winner.  This year Ryan Russett with his design of the Republican-American Clock Tower with brains pushing the American Flag to the top to show how they are overcoming the stigma of mental illness, came away with the Grand Prize.  The committee felt that Ryan’s design took in the spirit of the Greater Waterbury area and all it represents by using the Clock Tower in his design.

Russett is a sophomore in Ms. Hamandrawatee Pertab’s class.  Ms   Pertab told us that he is a very talented artist who has shown an incredible amount of enthusiasm.  The entire class put forth wonderful designs that were beautiful and made the choice very difficult.  The first runner up was Brittaney Carpa with her illustration of a couple walking through the brain for the NAMI 2013 Walk.  Second runner up was Marcus Ruff.

NAMI Waterbury will again be running our T-Shirt Contest and want to kick off in September this year.  Any school that would like to participate can contact Kim Pernerewski at 203-578-5447.  We would like to have 200 entries.   This year we would like to get the entries in by February so we can have an art show in March.  We will then have NAMI members help to pick the winners.
