The amateur competitors came in all shapes and sizes, and were raising money for Cancer Schmancer, an organization created to help people facing a variety of devastating diseases.

Despite the name “strongman” competition, women from their late teens into their 50s competed.

Terri Fidanza of Prospect has been training at the Poundstone Gym for the past 15 months and competed in her first strongman contest Saturday afternoon.

The event brought forty competitors to the Poundstone Perfomance Training Center, and a few hundred spectators into the South End of Waterbury. An extremely positive event.
