First Thursdays offer additional evening hours and a unique Museum experience each month for families. With the recent partnership with the Foundation we are able to offer expanded programs, opportunities and activities for families. First Thursdays this year will include hands on activities for children, new exhibits, presentations and performances all because of the sport of the Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation.

This month we are taking a Journey Down the Naugatuck River. Have you ever wondered what lives in or flies along the Naugatuck River? Families can come down and enjoy a fast hard hitting 20 minute journey down the river in a film capturing the wildlife of the river. Then they can Get Tracking, by exploring the tracks of the animals that call the Naugatuck River home and even make their own tracks.

Future programs include a presentation by Naugatuck High School students of the online Civil War Museum they are building, the life of a Civil War Citizen Solider by author Karl Bacon and a chance for children to explore the flags of the Civil War in April. May will bring us an inside look at Salem Bridge Clocks and the grand opening of our newest working Salem Bridge Clock. Children and adults will enjoy the opportunity to try and recreate their own reverse glass painting. For up to date program information follow us on Twitter @NaugatuckHist or subscribe to our electronic newsletter The Bridge.

First Thursdays are held on the first Thursday of every month from 6-8pm. Admission to First Thursdays is free for members, $2 and individual or $5 a family offering an inexpensive way for the entire community to explore more about the world they live in through speakers, exhibits and hands on activities.
