State Representative Larry B. Butler (D-Waterbury) has been reappointed by Speaker of the House-designate Brendan Sharkey (D-Hamden) to serve as House Chairman of the Legislature’s Housing Committee. The Housing Committee has oversight over matters relating to housing statewide and to all programs that affect housing in Connecticut.

“The Housing Committee is particularly important these days when too many people are facing economic hardships that make finding affordable housing a struggle,” Butler said. “Housing is a basic need and government has a responsibility to do everything it can to try to ensure affordable, decent housing is within reach for everyone.”

“Larry has done an excellent job as chair of the Housing Committee, working tirelessly on the mission of increasing the availability of more affordable housing,” Rep. Sharkey said. “Rep. Butler’s past work made his reappointment a clear and easy choice for me and I look forward to working with him.”

In addition to leading the Housing Committee, Butler will also serve on the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee and the Human Services Committee.  Rep. Butler was elected to his fourth term in House of Representatives this past November. Rep.
