   The annual tree lighting will be tonight, November 23rd, at 5:30 pm, on the Green in downtown Waterbury. There will Christmas caroling. the Brass On Brass band will perform, and Santa Claus will arrive. WATR’s Tom Chute will emcee the event. Bring a canned food item and receive a ticket for a free Frankie’s hot dog. Following the festivities on the Green there will be a processional led by Santa Claus and Waterbury Mayor Neil O’Leary to the Howland-Hughes Center at 120 Bank Street, where the community will celebrate the Miracle On Bank Street. Inside the old department store children will get to meet Santa Claus and watch select scenes from the Connecticut Dance Theatre’s “Clara and the Nutcracker.”

Howland-Hughes will be transformed into a holiday wonderland with singing, ballet, the Festival of the Trees, Santa Claus, and the unique opportunity to speak with Donner the talking reindeer (below).
