The Alliance Française of Northwestern Connecticut (AFNWCT) is hosting a Soirée Beaujolais wine tasting party Friday, November 16, at 5:30 p.m. at a private home in Southbury. Jim Frey of Walker Road Vineyards in Woodbury will give a presentation on wines; desserts and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Admission is $15. On Saturday, December 1, the AFNWCT will host a Fête de Noël Canadienne from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Woodbury Senior Community Center, 265 Main Street South, Woodbury. A typical French Canadian Christmas meal will be served, followed by a Christmas concert by the popular French Canadian singer Josée Vachon. Ongoing programs sponsored by the AFNWCT include a Café et Conversation group that meets alternate Saturdays at The Barn Club, 558 Main Street South, Woodbury from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Readings and discussions on various topics are conducted in French.  Upcoming meetings are November 17, and December 15. Another ongoing program of the AFNWCT is the Soirées Littéraires Book Club, which meets the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Bridgewater Library, Main Street South, Bridgewater.
