Waterbury Police Chief Michael Gugliotti has a demanding job that frays at the nerves, and Friday he is officially going “Over the Edge” as he rappels 34 stories down the side of the Mohegan Sun as a fund raiser for the Special Olympics. Gugliotti is trying to raise $1500 for his effort and as of Friday morning he is about half way there.

Standing on the edge of a building hundreds of feet above the ground and leaning backwards is not a typical human response. But that’s rappelling. Chief Gugliotti (this is not a photo of him) has never rappelled before and is a bit anxious about his Friday adventure. He sought advice from his twin brother, Joe, who has rappelled, and is open to any suggestions.
