Have You Seen Bigfoot In Waterbury?

   True story. As I was finishing production of the September issue of the Waterbury Observer I checked my e-mails one last time to see if anything new had rolled in. And indeed there was something new, and it was big. A producer for Animal Planet’s TV show “Finding Bigfoot” wrote that the show was coming to Waterbury to film an episode, and they are looking for advance press to draw out any eyewitnesses who have actually seen Bigfoot, and would be willing to come to a “Town Hall” meeting in October to share their story.

   I’ve always heard that Bigfoot, or Sasquatch, a large, hairy, ape-like creature roamed through the rain drenched forests of the Pacific Northwest, but apparently Bigfoot has made an appearance in Waterbury. If you’ve seen the mythical Bigfoot stomping through downtown Waterbury, working out at the YMCA, or scrounging for great Italian food along Highland Avenue, get your party clothes on and get ready for your TV debut. And next time you attend a Board of Aldermen meeting and you see a eight foot tall ape at the microphone complaining about pot holes, get your camera out, you’re about to become famous…..
