Fifth District congressional candidate Dan Roberti thanked his family, supporters, volunteers and staff following the Democratic primary tonight. After paying tribute to his mother, who died this past weekend after a six-year battle with melanoma, Mr. Roberti thanked his father, brother, sister, and other family and friends who supported him throughout his campaign for Congress. He noted that his supporters, staff and volunteers had helped his family through “the most difficult time of our lives,” in dealing with his mother’s illness.

Roberti also called on his supporters to persevere and continue working hard to elect a Democrat to the 5th District seat in Congress. He said he would support the victor in the race, Elizabeth Esty, going forward.

“I will do everything I can to elect Elizabeth Esty to the U.S. Congress,” Mr. Roberti said. “We had a spirited debate, now it’s time to come together.”

Roberti pointed out it was important not to lose the seat in the 5th to the Republicans. He said Democrats should continue to fight for justice, protect Social Security and Medicare, promote job creation, and advocate equal rights for all.
