The Mattatuck Museum will feature popular Connecticut group The Billy Cofrances Jazz Quartet at First Thursday on August 2, 2012 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
The quartet is a well-known name in the New Haven area jazz community with regular shows at New Haven’s 500 Blake Street and Colonial Tymes in Hamden. The group features Billy Cofrances on alto and tenor saxophones, Tom Devino on drums, Doug Schlink on piano and bassist Steve Taylor.
Cofrances started his career as a member of the popular east coast favorite Jump Street. Since then, he and his Selma Mark IV tenor and alto saxophones have been thrilling audiences throughout New England. Cofrances has worked with legendary jazz pianist Sarah Cion, jazz vocalists Billy Weston, Giacomo Gates and Walt Andrus, lead singer of the Tommy Dorsey Big Band.

The Mattatuck Museum is operated with support from the Department of Economic and Community Development/Connecticut Office of the Arts, and is a member of the Connecticut Art Trail, a group of sixteen world-class museums and historic sites (www.arttrail.org). Located at 144 West Main Street, Waterbury, the museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Free parking is located behind the building on Park Place.
