Kimberly Grendzinski has been named Valedictorian and Seunghui Ashley Han Salutatorian of the Class of 2012 at Sacred Heart High School, according to Mrs. Eileen Regan, President.

During Kim’s four years at Sacred Heart, she has taken a leadership role in a number of clubs and activities both in and outside of school. She has served as Vice President of the senior class, as a member of the National Honor Society, Editor in Chief of the Forum, and a member of the International Club.

In addition, she has been an active member of Habitat for Humanity and was recently named a recipient of the Thomas and Elsie Deeley Family Foundation Scholarship. She also served as the Captain of Cheerleading and Track and Field teams. The daughter of John and Karen Grendzinski of Oakville, Kim is a graduate of St. Mary Magdalen School. She will attend the University of Connecticut, Storrs in the fall to pursue a degree in Animal Sciences.

Since arriving at Sacred Heart High School from South Korea four years ago, Seunghui has certainly left her mark on the Heart’s school community and the Greater Waterbury community. During Ashley’s four years, she has served as the Layout Editor and reporter for the Forum, a member of the National Honor Society, and member of the International Club. She also served as Social Chair of her class during her Junior and Senior year and as captain of the JETS TEAM. She was also a member of the varsity swim, track and soccer teams.

Passionate about giving back to her community, Ashley served as a tutor for math and literacy for first and second graders at Yellow House in Cheshire and for 4th and 5th graders at Waterbury Children’s Community School. In the summer of 2011, she did an internship at the School of Medicine at Yale University in the Nephrology Department.

She is the daughter of Jung wa Han of Seoul, South Korea. She will attend the University of Connecticut, Storrs in the fall.
