With temperatures soaring near 100 degrees, a female Osprey used her massive wingspan to provide her two chicks protective cover from the punishing heat that walloped the northeast the past two days. The nest is along the Naugatuck River, and the image was captured by environmental activist Keven Zak of the Naugatuck River Revival Group. Kevin has been filming the wildlife along the Naugatuck River for the past 18 months, and with Sondra Harman they have produced an astonishing documentary called “The Hidden World.” It has played several times in Naugatuck and Watertown, and will be appearing at the the Institute for American Indian Studies in Washington, CT in the next month.
