Waterbury’s Republican Party will run candidates in each of the city’s five general assembly races this year it was announced. The party currently holds two of those seats with State Representatives Tony D’Amelio (71) and Selim Noujaim (74).
In the past week, Republican candidates in the remaining three city districts announced their intent to run.
In the 72nd district, retired U.S. Army veteran Micheal “Mike” Stango will carry the Republican banner. Stango has been a resident of Waterbury for over 50 years and look to bring back some fresh ideas to Hartford.
In the 73rd district, former alderman Dennis Odle will bring his years of experience in both city governement and the business community to the race. His platform of “common sense” solutions is one he feels is missing at the Capitol.
In the 75th district, for Waterbury Board of Education Commissioner, Jack Alseph will challenge the winner of the Democrat primary. His no nonsense approach and history of working for the people would be assets in Hartford.
“The people of Waterbury should be very excited about the caliber of people interested in representing them from the Republican slate,” Party Chairman Jason Van Stone said. Adding, “In order to get Connecticut heading in the right direction, we need to send the right people. These are the right people.”
