On Saturday, May 5, Post University will recognize the accomplishments of nearly 800 traditional and online undergraduate and graduate students during Commencement exercises on the grounds of its Waterbury campus and via a live video feed.

Included among this academic year’s graduates will be 105 undergraduate students who attended the University’s main campus in Waterbury, and 482 undergraduate and 207 graduate students who completed their degrees through the Online Education Institute of Post University.

Although almost half of the nearly 700 graduates who completed their coursework online are traveling to campus to “walk” in graduation, the University also will broadcast the ceremony over the Internet for those graduates and family members who cannot attend in person.

“We are thrilled to welcome so many generations of families to our campus as we celebrate the accomplishments of traditional college students and adult learners who completed their degrees while balancing work and family responsibilities,” said Tom Samph, Ph.D., president and CEO of Post University.

Almost half of this year’s graduates are 35 years or older, and more than 60 graduates have passed their 50th birthdays.

“At Post, Commencement has shifted somewhat from an occasion where parents and grandparents come to cheer on their children and grandchildren to one where children and grandchildren also come to cheer on their parents and grandparents as they accept their diplomas, as well,” added Samph.  “It is a very emotional experience for young and older participants alike, and one I look forward to all year.”

Emily Katherine Meskun, 23, of Colebrook, and Mark Francis Dzubian, 34, of  Naugatuck, will address the graduates as co-Valedictorians.  Meskun, who attended the University’s main campus, will receive a Bachelor of Science in Equine Business Management.    Dzubian, a Veteran of the United States Navy who earned his degree through the Online Education Institute of Post University, will receive a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems.

Waterbury Mayor, Neil M. O’Leary, and Dr. O. Alton Barron, Chairman of the Post University Board of Trustees, also will address the graduates.

Commencement begins at 11 a.m. EST.  To watch Post University’s graduation ceremony live, go to http://www.Post.edu/graduation at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
