Thomaston High School Project Graduation presents “PROJECT LAUGHS!” with headline comedian/ventriloquist Pete Michaels along with the Edgy female comedian Sharon Simon on Saturday. May 5 at 8:00pm at the Thomaston Opera House, 158 Main Street in Thomaston, CT. Up and coming comedian Bob Carney will also perform and open the show.
About the Comedians: Pete Michaels “Celebrity Ventriloquist” may be an unlikely goal to aspire to, but Pete Michaels has earned the title.
A native of New York City, his sweeping career spans decades and includes live appearances at major comedy clubs and casinos around the country. TV stints on Comedy Central, Late Night With Conan O’Brien, and Showtime At The Apollo, and training work with the likes of Adrien Brody and Judith Roberts on the major motion pictures Dummy and Dead Silence.
Most recently, Michaels was honored at the International Ventriloquist Convention with the W.S. Berger Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Art of Ventriloquism, and appears (alongside three members of his 8-puppet posse) in MGMT’s video for their hit “Flash Delirium.” The video was nominated for Best Rock Video at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Sharon Simon Edgy, electrifying and a bit sassy, comedian Sharon Simon personifies “Jewish Trash”. ?
Growing up as the only Jewish child in an Hispanic neighborhood, her blonde hair and lack of pigment quickly earned her the sobriquet, “Flashlight”.
If you watched Saturday Night Live in the 80s, and didn’t blink, you MIGHT have seen a very young Sharon in a Christmas sketch. Apparently this small scene paid a lot as Sharon didn’t find it necessary to appear on TV again for quite some time. ?While most Jewish girls use daddy’s money to attend spendy colleges, Sharon stripped to pay her way through Rutgers University’s drama program. Sharon briefly dated the one straight man in her acting program but alas, he too turned out to be gay.?Sharon later went on to become an EMT.
TODAY?Sharon’s edgy act and unique, “Jewish Trash” style is burning up clubs and colleges allover the U.S. and Canada. You can catch Sharon on Sirius Radio and as an opening act for Jim Norton, (she once used her EMT training to save a woman that collapsed during a Norton show).??
A regular at clubs and colleges all over New England, Bob is a keen observer of the hilarious intricacies of everyday life that drive us all crazy!
The event is a major fundraiser for Thomaston’s Project Graduation. “The performances of Michaels, Simon and Carney promise to bring the crowd a great night of entertainment,” said Linda Miller, chairperson of the event.
The show is expected to be well attended, so advance purchase of tickets is highly recommended. A small number of tickets may be available at the door the night of the event, but purchase in advance to avoid disappointment. Tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased by calling the Thomaston Opera House Box Office at (860) 283-6250
