On Thursday, May 3 from 3:30–5:00 pm, the Litchfield Historical Society will hold a program on the Tapping Reeve House lawn for children 6 and up that will explore the life of Aaron Burr and learn about his historic duel with Alexander Hamilton.
Aaron Burr became infamous after his duel with Alexander Hamilton, but many years before that he had ties with Litchfield. Burr was Tapping Reeve’s first law student, as well as the brother of Reeve’s first wife, Sally Burr Reeve. Join us at the Historical Society as we read a children’s book on the event, Duel! Burr and Hamilton’s Deadly War of Words, and decide for yourself if you like him or not. Participants will engage in an activity or take home a craft related to the story.
The fee for this event is $5 for members and $7 for non-members. Please register by emailing registration@litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org or calling (860) 567-4501.
The Tapping Reeve House is located at 82 South Street in Litchfield, CT. In case of rain, this program will be held at the Litchfield History Museum, located at 7 South Street. For more information about this or other programs, please call or see www.litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org.
