Educator Appreciation Week:  April 14-22

Barnes & Noble, the world’s largest bookseller will celebrate April Educator Appreciation Week from April 14-22, 2012. All Barnes & Noble stores and Barnes & ( will offer special discounts and promotions for pre K – grade 12 administrators and educators. Stores across the country will also host special events and workshops.

Educators who shop at Barnes & Noble during Educator Appreciation Week will receive 20% off Nook Tablet-16GB, Nook Color, and Nook Simple Touch and 15% off Nook Tablet -8GB, along with a 25% discount on personal and classroom purchases, a 10% discount on DVDs and music, a chance to win a NOOK Tablet™, a Pimsleur Unlimited Language system, and other prizes, giveaways, delicious café treats and beverages. Educators must present a valid Barnes & Noble Educators Discount Card to receive the discounts.*

The B&N@School sections in Barnes & Noble stores are arranged by grade level, from pre- to elementary grades, to middle school and high school. Materials are categorized by topic for each age group. B&N@School includes sections emphasizing curricula, expanded workbook sections, flash cards, manipulatives (products that teach through hands-on experience), puzzles, art supplies and decorations.

The Barnes & Noble store at 235 Union St. Waterbury, CT will host its Local Author’s Evening on Wednesday April 18 featuring Michael Bielawa, Wicked Bridgeport and Bridgeport Baseball (regional history), Cindy Ruvolo Lurie, Carolyn and Her Tiny Red House (children’s), Ryan San Angelo, Spaghetti Eddie (children’s) and John Wiehn and Mark Heiss, Waterbury 1890-1930(regional history) and Educator Reception on Friday April 20, 2012 from 3-7pm. The event will feature goodie bags, a raffle, fundraising materials, Nook in the Classroom tours, grant writing materials, My Favorite Teacher Local Winners and runner-up essay display, café samples, special guest storyteller, author Ryan San Angelo, reading Spaghetti Eddie for storytime at 6:30pm and much more!
