The Alliance Francaise of Northwestern Connecticut (AFNWCT) will sponsor a lecture, “French Influence in the Caribbean,” Saturday, April 14, at 10:30  a.m. at the Barn Club, 558 Main Street South, Woodbury.  Admission is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be
served. The speaker is Dr. Leslie Desmangles, a native of Haiti and professor of international relations at Trinity College in Hartford. The program will be in French.

The same weekend, AFNWCT will show a French film Sunday, April 15, at 2 p.m. at The Barn Club, 558 Main Street South, Woodbury. Admission is $5 and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.  The film, in French with English subtitles, stars French actress Irene Jacob, who won a prize for Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival. Commentary on the film will be offered in English by Nunzio DeFilippis, an International Film instructor at the
