March 30 is Deadline for Waterbury Small Businesses to Apply for Energy Assistance

The deadline has been extended to March 30 for Waterbury’s small business owners to apply for an energy assistance grant from Operation Fuel’s Project/BEST. This is a new program that provides eligible small business owners with a one-time energy grant
of $1,000 and training to help lower their energy bills.

Project/BEST, which is the first program of its kind in the nation, is open to small businesses in the cities of Waterbury, Hartford, New Haven, New London, and Bridgeport.  Women-owned and minority-owned businesses are encouraged to participate. Operation Fuel recently completed the program in Hartford where energy grants totaling $213,000 were given to 213 small business owners who participated.

The small business program is being funded by a $1 million grant from Dominion Resources Inc. and $150,000 from PSEG (Public Service Enterprise Group).

For more information on Project/BEST, call 860-243-2345, ext. 308, or email projectbest@operationfuel.org.

Operation Fuel is a private, nonprofit statewide program that has provided emergency energy assistance for the past 35 years to lower-income working families, the elderly and disabled individuals who are not eligible for energy assistance from government-funded
programs.
