Stone Academy, 101 Pierpont Road, recently announced four new collaborations with the medical community, for student externships and job placements.
DaVita Dialysis has facilities in Bloomfield, Hamden, Middletown, New Haven, Newington, Norwich, North Windham, Rocky Hill, Torrington, Vernon and Waterbury. At many of these facilities, students assist with tasks such as patient history, blood pressure, intake and comfort measures.
In New Britain, the Joselyn Diabetic Center at the Hospital of Central Connecticut provides students with opportunities to use their front and back office skills by assisting with finger sticks, blood pressure, weights, patient intake, history, blood spinning, and urine tests.
In Southbury, students assist Pomperaug Plastic Surgery with surgical procedures including breast cancer reconstruction and facial surgery.
Southington Care Center offers externships for Medical Office Professional and Medical Assisting students. The Center has also hired many Patient Care Associate students.
