Chris (Jill Bonnett) and Lenny (Bill Wilson) enjoy a drink and a good joke during RUMORS, a very funny Neil Simon comedy playing at the Clockwork Rep through March 31

Neil Simon’s best written and funniest comedy ever, RUMORS concerns four couples who arrive at the townhouse home of the Deputy Mayor of NewYork City to celebrate his tenth wedding anniversary. The party never begins because the host has shot himself (only a flesh wound) and the hostess, his wife, is missing.

The cover-up grows progressively more difficult as more guests arrive and nobody can
remember who has been told what. Doors slam and hilarity abounds as the situation
gets more and more crazed. The police eventually arrive for a routine investigation only
to find wild dancing, a smashed BMW and the neighbors complaining about gunshots.
To sort it all out, one of the guests must pose as the Deputy Mayor and gives the most
hilarious explanation ever written for the American stage!
