Literacy Volunteers of Greater Waterbury will present “In Their Own Words…an Afternoon with authors Diane Meier and Frank Delaney” on Sunday, March 18 from 12:30-3 p.m. at the Watertown Golf Club, 246 Guernseytown Road, Watertown.
The event will feature a brunch buffet with mimosas, punch, and cash bar, plus a door prize drawing and auction items. Snow date is March 25th. Sponsors include Webster Bank and Soul Space Yoga & Wellness of Plantsville.
Guest speaker Diane Meier is the author of “The Season of Second Chances” and “The New American Wedding,” as well as founder and president of MEIER, a full service marketing firm in Manhattan. Ms. Meier lives in Litchfield County with her husband, renowned author Frank Delaney, who will also speak at the event. Over a career that has spanned more than three decades, Delaney, an international-best-selling author himself, has interviewed more than 3,500 of the world’s most important writers. NPR has proclaimed him as “The Most Eloquent Man in the World.” Born and raised in County Tipperary, Ireland, Delaney spent more than twenty-five years in England before moving to the United States in 2002. His first “American” book was the New York Times bestseller, “Ireland.” Since 2006, he has published five novels about Ireland, all addressing, decade by decade, the twentieth century history of his homeland.
Books by both authors will be available for purchase at the event from The Hickory Stick Bookshop, with a book signing following the presentation. To learn more about Ms. Meier and Mr. Delaney, visit dianemeier.com and frankdelaney.com.
