The deadline to apply for energy assistance has been extended and benefits were increased:  The deadline to apply for the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program has been extended until Tuesday, May 1st. Income and asset restrictions still apply.

In addition, benefits have been increased by $140.00 for utility heat customers. If you heat with a deliverable fuel you may be eligible to receive one additional safety net. Please note that this increase in benefits is not applicable to those families determined eligible for a $100.00 utility basic benefit (CHAP) or a deliverable fuel award delivery of  $400.00(CHAP).
