Kim Fitzgerald, CPCU, of Waterbury, has been named a part-owner of the Montagno Insurance Agency Inc. based in Waterbury, Connecticut since 1964. An employee with the Agency since 1989 when she began part-time employment while attending high school, Fitzgerald became a part-owner of the firm in September 2011. In March of last year she gained statewide recognition when she was named in“Connecticut” magazine a FIVE STAR Home/Auto Insurance Professional.
Born and raised in Waterbury, Fitzgerald, whose maiden name is Luddy, commented, “This role has been carved out for me since I was a teenager and continued while I was a college student. Every day after high school, I came to the agency to work part-time. When I returned home to Waterbury while attending college in Rhode Island, I worked at the agency during spring, summer, fall and winter breaks. There has never been a time since I was 16 that I have not been working in some capacity at the Montagno Insurance Agency.”

Fitzgerald explained the fascination with how her career path parallels Mark Montagno’s. “When I was 16, my younger brother was on the same little league team as the Montagno Agency’s office manager’s son. During a game one day, I was expressing my disappointment with a part time job I was holding and the Montagno Agency office manager returned the next game and asked if I’d be interested in working part time at the Agency. Mark had begun his career working with his Dad part-time at the Agency. After college he began working full-time, as did I after I fulfilled my college credits. When Mark’s father Caesar retired, Mark took over the business in 1989.”
