The Post University Athletics Department announced the 2012 men’s golf spring schedule on Thursday. The Eagles had a strong fall season, finishing second in three of their four tournaments.
Post begins its spring season with a three-day tournament against Pfeiffer University beginning on Sunday, Feb. 26 at Irish Creek Country Club in Charlotte, N.C. The Eagles will then travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for another three-day tournament against Dowling College at Woodland Country Club on Feb. 28.
“We look forward to playing more consistently this spring,” said head coach Pete Stevens. “We have a great deal of talent and hopefully we can function as a team and win a championship.”
The Eagles will head back to North Carolina for two more tournaments. On March 17, in Wilson, N.C., Post will matchup against Barton College at Wilson Country Club. The Eagles close out the regular season on March 27 in White Lake, N.C. against University of North Carolina-Pembroke at Carolina Sands Country Club.
The Central Atlantic Athletic Conference (CACC) Championship will start on April 5 at Whitemarsh Country Club in Lafayette Hill, Pa. The Eagles had won five straight CACC Championships from 2006-10, before they finished second behind Wilmington last season.
The NCAA Division II Super Regional is on May 5 at Hershey Links in Hershey, Pa.
The Eagles had four players named to the 2011 All-CACC team. The two returning players are Thomas Rees (Cardiff, Wales) and Ross Earnshaw (York, England). Rees was also named CACC Rookie of the Year in 2011.
