Elizabeth Esty’s congressional campaign has hired Russell Griffin to direct field operations for the campaign. Griffin is a veteran Democratic Field Director with more than a decade of experience in organizing on tough primary campaigns, including Congresswoman Donna Edwards’ upset victory over an eight-term incumbent in the 2008 Maryland Democratic primary.

“I’m so pleased that Russell is joining our team,” said Elizabeth Esty. “Russell is a talented organizer with the right experience to bring people together in our grassroots campaign to end partisan gridlock and bring common-sense solutions to Washington. I know he’ll excel as a member of our team.”

“It’s a true privilege to be working with Elizabeth Esty,” Griffin said. “Voters are already responding to her message of common-sense solutions to create good middle-class jobs. I’m excited to help Elizabeth continue to grow her strong grassroots organization that will keep the 5th District blue in November.”

Prior to joining the Esty campaign, Griffin ran field operations for Oklahoma Lt. Governor Jari Askins in her successful underdog bid for the Democratic nomination for Governor. Most recently, he served as Field Director for Houston Mayor Annise Parker’s victorious 2011 reelection campaign.

Elizabeth Esty is a Democrat running for the open seat in Connecticut’s 5th Congressional District. Esty is a community leader, attorney, and mother who has earned a reputation as a tireless, progressive advocate for the middle class.
