The Alliance Française of Northwestern Connecticut (AFNWCT) will host a “Fête des Rois” (Feast of the Three Kings) at a private home in Bridgewater Sunday, January 15th, at 1 p.m. Admission is free for members and $10 for Non-members. For reservations and directions, call: 860-355-1985 or email eacheson023@earthlink.net.

Like other Catholic countries, France celebrates the “Fête des Rois,” the day the Magi arrived in Bethlehem to honor the birth of Jesus. A special galette (cake) will be served; the guest who finds a little statue of Jesus in his piece of cake is crowned king (or queen) for the year. Guests are invited to play Scrabble, Bridge, or other board games in French.  Guests may bring dictionaries and board games they would like to introduce to the group.  Non-French speaking guests will be accommodated.

The Alliance Francaise is an international, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the language and culture of France and other French-speaking countries. Activities include: lectures, French films, travel opportunities, book discussion groups, conversation groups, social events, and French language classes.
