House Chair of the Commerce Committee, State Rep. Jeff Berger (D-Waterbury) today announced that $250,000 to make improvements to the 80-year-old Municipal Stadium in Waterbury is expected to be approved by the state Bond Commission on Friday, December 9th.

   “The approval of these funds continues four years of effort and is a start to the final funding that will be needed to bring this regional facility used by entire state of Connecticut to its previous grandeur,” Rep. Berger said.

   Waterbury Municipal Stadium has been in operation since 1930 and is used by varying groups from the Waterbury Youth Leagues, Waterbury High Schools, Teikyo Post University, AAU, American Legion and the Twi-Met league, among others.

   Rep. Berger serves the 73rd General Assembly District and is Chairman of the Commerce Committee.  He also serves on the Finance, Revenue & Bonding and the Judiciary Committees.
