To the citizens of Waterbury,
On October 20, 2011, the Waterbury Republican published an article titled Latinos quit campaign. It is with great disappointment that the Latino community was portrayed as quitters in the local mayoral race. We strongly feel that this statement should have only reflected those individuals that were directly involved with their inability to fulfill their political obligations.
In contrast to what the recent article stated, there a number of highly-educated and working class Latinos who are actively involved in the process. We have a cohesive group that represents the Latino Community at Large throughout the city. We have individuals from all of the political parties who put the city first, not politics.
In fact, this Saturday October 22, 2011 at 10am at the South End Head Quarters 649 South Main Street, we will be hosting a ribbon ceremony to ensure our visibility from the Latino community.
In closing, we are a collective group of democratic “LATINOS” that are not working for ourselves, but for the betterment of this great city. In Neil O’Leary we see hope and change. We see an opportunity for our community to move ahead and get folks back to work, new green space and a collaborative relationship with leadership that has been absent for decades. We are standing by Neil one hundred percent. Our group is in total support of the Democratic candidate Neil O’Leary. Furthermore, in our alliance to the party we are also having a rally on November 2, 2011 from 6pm-9pm at the Portuguese Club 1966 Baldwin Street Waterbury CT.
Respectfully,
Geraldo Reyes Jr.
