Girls Inc. of Southwestern CT (formerly the Waterbury Girls Club) invites all former members to a reunion at its Wine & Chocolate Festival on Friday, October 7, 2011. The reception-style event will take place from 5:30 to 8:30pm at Girls Inc. of Southwestern CT, 35 Park Place (behind the Mattatuck Museum) in Waterbury.

Girls Inc. of Southwestern CT has located Waterbury Girls Club alumnae from as far back as the 1930’s, and all alums are encouraged to bring friends, photos and memorabilia from their days at the Girls Club. Prizes will be awarded in several categories, including the family with the most generations of alumnae present. “We’re eager to reconnect with all our former members,” says Girls Inc. of SWCT COO Anna Henry. “We can’t wait to welcome them back and hear their stories. After all, the Waterbury Girls Club was founded in 1864 as the very first Girls’ Club in the United States. We’ve improved a lot of girls’ lives over 147 years!”

The Wine & Chocolate Festival will feature a select group of local gourmet companies, including Fascia’s Chocolate, Sweet Maria’s Bakery, Bourassa Catering, and La Palette Bakery, who’ll all be sampling their delicious products and recommending pairings with fine wines, served by local wine experts.

Advance tickets may be purchased for $20 by calling (203) 756-4639, and tickets bought at the door will be $30. (There is no charge for refreshments, and no products will be sold at this event.)

The Wine & Chocolate Festival is open to all adults, age 21 or older, and Girls Inc. of Southwestern CT is happy to welcome both men and women supporters. All proceeds from the event will go to Girls Inc. of Southwestern CT programs that “inspire all girls to be Strong, Smart, and Bold.” ?
