The Mattatuck Unitarian Universalist Society, 122 South Pomperaug Avenue, Woodbury will continue its summer speaker series on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 10:30 am with a service led by Irene Conley of Woodbury. She is an associate professor and chair of music and performing arts management at the Hartt School.

She will be discussing the book “Good Without God,” by Greg Epstein, who is the humanist chaplain at Harvard. “ The book explores the ways in which humanists/ atheists/non-believers, in the absence of faith in a supreme being, develop and live by moral standards of behavior,” said Conley.
“The congregation will be challenged to apply these ideas to Unitarian Universalist principles, and to consider the foundations of their own individual ethical systems.”

Refreshments will be served after the question and answer period. The public is welcome.
