It’s time to unload all the poison, paint, batteries and insecticides laying around your house, but in a safe and environmentally friendly way.
Hazardous waste collection for residents of Beacon Falls, Bethlehem, Middlebury, Naugatuck, Oxford, Southbury, Thomaston, Waterbury, Watertown and Woodbury will be at Kennedy High School on July 15th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Kennedy High School is in the Town Plot neighborhood of Waterbury, at 422 Highland Ave.??Items that will be accepted are mercury and mercury thermometers, drain and oven cleaners, upholstery cleaners, poisons, insecticides, oil- or leadbased paints, wood cleaners, aerosols, strippers and varnishes, metal polishers, pool and photo chemicals, automotive cleaners and fluids, grease and rust solvents, alkaline batteries and fluorescent bulbs.
Items that will not be accepted include latex paint, auto batteries, motor oil, radioactive or medical waste, asbestos, explosives and compressed gas cylinders. Commercial and industrial waste will only be accepted through prior arrangement.
