Democratic candidate for the 5th congressional district seat Chris Donovan will file a report next week showing that he has raised more than $230,000 in the second quarter of 2011. Since officially filing as a candidate in mid-May, Donovan has raised money from more than 750 individual donors, more than 90% of whom are from within Connecticut. Donovan’s average donation for the quarter was roughly $300.

“These impressive fundraising numbers reflect the grassroots enthusiasm that Chris’ campaign for Congress has generated,” said Donovan campaign spokesman Gabe Rosenberg.  “In the 22 days between the end of the regular legislative session and the end of the quarter, Chris crisscrossed the district meeting voters, speaking to Democratic Town Committees, and listening to Connecticut’s families – and they have responded with surprisingly strong donations in such a short period of time. His support will only grow as more 5th congressional district voters learn about his history of fighting for Connecticut’s families.
