At Last

Modern love takes center stage when Naugatuck Valley’s community theatre, Phoenix Stage Company (PSC), proudly presents “The Last Five Years” beginning June 3rd in Naugatuck.  Funny, tender and tuneful, the show features an audience-pleasing score spanning today’s popular music genres by writer/composer Jason Robert Brown.  The production will run from June 3rd through June 26th for twelve performances.

“The Last Five Years” is a contemporary song-cycle musical that ingeniously chronicles the five year life of a marriage, from meeting to break-up…or from break-up to meeting, depending on how you look at it. Jamie Wellerstein (an up-and-coming author) and Cathy Hiatt (an aspiring actress) each gives their perspective, one looking forward and one looking back, on their romance in a ‘he said/she said’ storyline, showing how couples fall in and out of love based on timing and circumstances.  A cult favorite of audiences and critics alike, the show’s off-Broadway premiere won two Drama Desk Awards. It has been produced across the US, throughout Europe and the UK, in Korea, Japan, the Philippines, South America and Australia.

Directed by Jane Coughlin and Sharon A. Wilcox with musical direction by Aaron J. Bunel, “The Last Five Years” features Emily Diedrich & Mike L’Altrella (June 3-12) and Alyssa Fontana & Dan Porri (June 17-26).  “The Last Five Years” will be presented on June 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 & 25, 2011 at 8:00pm and June 5, 12, 19 & 26, 2011 at 2:00pm.  Tickets are $22.00 for adults/$18.00 for Students & Seniors and can be purchased by calling the box office at (203) 632-8546 or by e-mail at tickets@phoenixstagecompany.org
