StayWell Health Center has been recognized as a Community Grant Recipient by the Savings Bank of Danbury Foundation in appreciation of all the outstanding work that StayWell does to make a difference in our communities. Since 2004, the Foundation has honored non-profit organizations in the areas of Affordable housing, Arts and Culture, Community Service and Economic Development, Education and Health and Human Services.
StayWell received $2,000 to support the dental program for patients who are uninsured. Patients without dental insurance are charged on a sliding fee scale based on their income. The average discount on services is 75%, leaving a large unfunded gap for providing the needed care. Patients without dental insurance includes seniors who are covered by Medicare only, which does not cover dental similar to many private insurance plans.
Jessica shared that her father bit into something and felt a sharp pain from his tooth. He wasn’t sure what to do since his Medicare coverage didn’t include dental work. He was told about StayWell, and has happily been a patient ever since. “Dr. A. explained step by step the work that needed to be done and the options for getting me to where I am today with a nice smile and no problems biting into anything,” Bill, age 83.
