Yard Waste Will Be Picked Up In Waterbury With Regular Trash Pick-up Wednesday

In the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, the Waterbury Bureau of Refuse will collect yard waste, in addition to its normally scheduled bulk trash pickup, Wednesday.

The Bureau accepts limbs and branches provided they are no more than four inches in diameter, no more than four feet long and bundled. Leaves and other small debris should be placed in paper yard waste bags.

The Mark Lane Transfer Station will be open on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for those residents who wish to transport their storm debris. The same guidelines related to size and bagging apply to yard waste dropped at the transfer station. Residents must provide prove of residency when using the transfer station.

For more information, contact the Bureau of Refuse at 203-574-6857 or the Citizens Service Center at 203-597-3444.
