Waterbury Health Names New CMO

Dr. Greta Boynton, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Waterbury HEALTH network.  Dr. Boynton has extensive experience in physician leadership, more recently as a Regional Chief Medical Officer with Sound Physicians, providing both clinical and financial oversight for their core service lines in the Atlantic Region. Dr. Boynton replaces Dr. Justin Lundbye who became President and CEO of Waterbury HEALTH in November 2021.

New Surgeon to Provide New Services at Waterbury Health

Waterbury HEALTH welcomes Dr. Daniel Kleiner, a hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and complex upper GI surgeon. The arrival of Dr. Kleiner will allow Waterbury HEALTH to bring sophisticated hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery to patients in the greater Waterbury area filling a service void. Before joining Waterbury HEALTH, Dr. Kleiner was Chief of Hepatic and Biliary Surgery at Western Connecticut Health Network. Dr. Kleiner was also vice-chairman of the Waterbury Hospital Department of Surgery.

Waterbury Health Names C.E.O.

Lester P. Schindel, has been named CEO of Waterbury HEALTH network.  Schindel served as interim CEO of the network for the past 12 months leading the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic, a particularly challenging year for the organization and healthcare in general.   

Waterbury HEALTH has Minority Ownership Interest in Wtby. Surgery Ctr.

Waterbury HEALTH -- a local network anchored by 357-bed Waterbury Hospital that offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient healthcare services as well as primary and multispecialty physician services and home health care -- has acquired a minority ownership interest in Waterbury Surgery Center, a free-standing multispecialty facility providing high-quality ambulatory surgical services.  Waterbury HEALTH began managing the facility Dec. 31, 2020.  

Chase Outpatient Center transitions to StayWell Health Center

StayWell Health Center, Waterbury HEALTH, and Alliance Medical Group are pleased to announce the transfer of the Chase Outpatient Center to StayWell Health Care, Inc. This is an exciting new chapter not only for the Chase Outpatient Center but for StayWell Health Center as well. Waterbury Hospital Opens Drive Through Coronavirus Testing

In order to increase testing volume for patients suspected of having Coronavirus, Waterbury Hospital opened the state’s second Department of Public Health approved drive through Coronavirus Sampling Station for patients. Our colleagues worked very hard to get this station up and running by early Friday afternoon. The sampling station will be open seven days a week, from 8 am to 4 pm.

Waterbury Hospital Announces Interim Director

Lester Schindel, a longtime New England healthcare executive, has been named interim CEO of Waterbury Hospital.  Schindel previously served as interim CEO at Waterbury Hospital in 2017 soon after Prospect acquired the hospital. In collaboration with its Waterbury Hospital executives, Prospect will conduct a national search for a permanent CEO at Waterbury.
