If you need an excuse to talk sports, join us for a bit of knowledge about determination, achievements and a touch of nostalgia with a meet and greet of local author and athlete Michael Griffin as he shares the expansive history of Waterbury’s high school boys basketball. Griffin will be at Silas Bronson Library on Saturday, May 14 at 1 p.m. to discuss the first of his two-volume history “Hoop History: Fifty Years of High School Basketball in Waterbury (Volume One: 1970-1995)”. The event will be outdoors and social distancing is recommended. In the event of inclement weather, a rain date has been scheduled of Saturday, May 21 at 2:30 p.m.
Griffin, a Waterbury-native and 1983 graduate of Crosby High School has been involved in city basketball and sports for many years, both on and off-court. Griffin has worked as an associated editor at espn.com, an editor of various trade publications and as a copy desk editor for the Republican-American newspaper.
Copies of “Hoop History: Fifty Years of High School Basketball in Waterbury (Volume One: 1970-1995)” will be available for purchase and signing.
